Colonial Boston, known for its historic sites and attractions, is turning its focus to the present. The city recently finished transforming a 19th century mill into a 62-unit apartment complex. The mill, left vacant for nearly three decades, is now a 95,000 square-foot building. While Boston, Massachusetts flooring contractors did preserve much of the existing floors, and other contractors preserved columns and concrete ceilings, the $24-million project left the structure looking quite different that the original Highland Brewing Company building, built in 1867. The project took Boston floor installation experts and hundreds of other workers quite a while but all involved were happy to be able to provide housing for 62 families.
