A non-profit organization aiming at helping low-income individuals renovate their homes recently received a $50,000 grant from the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation. The organization, called Green Doors, strives to end homelessness and poverty by renovating homes in poor conditions. Those who qualify for the program include the disabled as well as low-income residents – 30 percent of the area’s median family income. One of the main needs the grant will meet is the cost for flooring contractors in Austin, Texas. The money will help 60 residents maintain their home so they don’t become homeless. Austin floor installation experts said they were thrilled to help out and aid in keeping people from becoming homeless.
